- Raju Kanakam

'Beyond Boundaries, Break Cancer. To the World, Our Resilience.'

- Manikanta Oolla

The Kanakam Foundation is a registered non profit organization established in 2016 by the deep compassion of founders, Mr. Raju Kanakam and Mr. Manikanta Oolla. With the direction of a committed group of eight board members from all over India, a small desire has grown into a significant movement. These leaders, bound together by the same goal, put up endless effort to improve the story of hopelessness that a majority of families live with. They face the harsh realities of poverty on a daily basis. But instead of giving up, they keep going by forming partnerships, welcoming innovation, and above all, standing by others who are less privileged.

Our Story

Our upbringing was shaped by our parent's readiness to assist for those in need and by seeing the road of service firsthand. As we matured and experienced the world's reality, we realized that reforming the world was not a simple task. Friends with the same compassionate drive joined us, and together we formed Kanakam Foundation. Our initial focus was on helping local communities, but when a close friend's little kid was diagnosed with blood cancer at the age of five, our true goal was sparked. It was heart-wrenching to see how this illness affected her and her entire family.

In the cancer wards, we saw how this disease devastates not only patients but also their caretakers, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds who often lack the means to afford costly treatments. We learned about blood stem cell treatments, which cure blood cancer and over 75 other blood disorders. But again, we found barriers: the significant difficulty in locating compatible donors and the high expense of stem cell storage. In order to address this worldwide need, we pledged to provide free blood stem cell storage and donation services that are available to everyone, irrespective of background or financial situation.

Despite incredible strides in technology, the fight against cancer remains uncertain, with millions worldwide still bearing the weight of late-stage diagnoses. This daunting reality made us realize how transformative early detection can help the patient outcomes and quality of life. Recognizing this, led us to start a cancer research journey, focusing on early detection and screening to identify the disease in its most treatable phases or even before symptoms arise.

'Kanakam Foundation was born from a vision of compassion and the belief that everyone deserves a fighting chance, regardless of their background. We saw a world where too many are left behind—families broken by cancer, caregivers worn down, and children deprived of the opportunity to live healthy, fulfilling lives. Our vision is simple yet bold: to create a future where no one battles alone, where healthcare is a right, and where hope reaches every corner. This mission drives us forward every single day.'

Our time spent in oncology departments, opened our eyes to a major gap: the lack of trained oncology nurses. We recognized the immense need for compassionate care, especially from women who bring a deep empathy and resilience to their work. This inspired us to provide zero tuition fee oncology nursing education for women , empowering them to serve in this critical field.

Another heartbreaking reality we witnessed was the plight of caretakers. Many sacrifice their own well-being for their loved ones, often skipping meals due to financial hardship. This led us to launch 'Kanakam Care Meals' , ensuring nutritious, protein-rich meals to support caretakers health, allowing them to care for their loved ones with renewed strength.

Our mission to eradicate cancer and provide a helping hand to those in need motivates us at every turn. As we grow internationally, establishing alliances and working with professionals to provide the best, most compassionate care. We hope to alter the trajectory of cancer for families around the world by closing healthcare gaps and increasing awareness. We are committed to changing lives, illuminating the way to a healthier, cancer-free future for everybody, and providing hope where it is most needed.
